A new law with several different provisions js now in effect as of September 30:

• Reading or sending texts or other electronic transmissions is illegal for all drivers (a "driver" is someone sitting in the driver's seat with the key in the ignition).
• Any cell phone use by those under the age of 18 while driving is illegal.
• Anyone over the age of 75 must renew their license in person at the RMV (no mail-in or online renewals).

Another new law affecting teens is already on the books: anyone under the age of 18 who seeks a motorcycle license MUST now take the MSF Basic Rider Course.
