|New Mass Law Against Texting|
A new law with several different provisions is now in effect as of September 30, 2010:
- Reading or sending texts or other electronic transmissions is illegal for all drivers (a "driver" is someone sitting in the driver's seat with the key in the ignition).
Any cell phone use by those under the age of 18 while driving is illegal.
Anyone over the age of 75 must renew their license in person at the RMV (no mail-in or online renewals).
Anyone under the age of 18 who seeks a motorcycle license MUST now take the MSF Basic Rider Course.
In 2015, another new law has been added: you must turn on headlights whenever your wipers are on.
